Help at the Farm

Picture
Workdays in 2019 will be Saturdays from 9 to 12 and Wednesdays from 3 to 6, early April through mid-October.
It is easy for individuals or groups to help at the Farm.  Just come on out during one of our work periods prepared to do gardening, that is, with your drinking water, work gloves, sunscreen, appropriate clothing, and ready to get dirty.  Most of the work is light, and we do have stools and knee pads.
There will always be someone there to direct and assist, and we hope you will learn a bit about organic gardening and soil sustainability.
The minimum age is 9, with adult companionship to age 16.

Groups can be accommodated (up to 10 volunteers) when prior arrangements are made.

Send an email to
eusrich@gmail.com with any questions.

A volunteer group from Eaton Corp
worked out in the rain on 5-14-14
to finish up work on raising the
sides of the beds.  They also trimmed the long
grass outside the bed edges, cut back
trees and shrubs encroaching on the
west fenceline, pulled dandelions, and
helped with irrigation lines.

The Southfield Parks and Garden Club is
responsible for starting and directing
the Emmanuel Community Farm and other
worthy projects for the provision of relief to the poor, the distressed, or the underprivileged, and to improve living conditions in the City of Southfield, MI., and surrounding communities.  It also lessens the burden of government.
