In late April were finishing up irrigation lines and just starting to plant
seeds.  Also raising the bed sides to accommodate additional
layers of our "lasagna method".  As of today we are about
95% complete with the goal of having an emitter in place for every
plant.   Volunteer response has been phenomenal this
spring, with corporate office and church groups, and even Master Composters
helping out.  I am very grateful for the leadership of our "regulars", who seem
to get the point across to newcomers much more gently than I,
and have a real handle on what's going on and what
needs to be done.

The Southfield Parks and Garden Club is
responsible for starting and directing
the Emmanuel Community Farm and other
worthy projects for the provision of relief to the poor, the distressed, or the underprivileged, and to improve living conditions in the City of Southfield, MI., and surrounding communities.  It also lessens the burden of government.
