Here we are , planning a new season in the midst of a very cold and snowy winter -- I do hope it doesn't extend too far into our growing season. I've ordered our seed - this year entirely from High Mowing Seeds - all organic and not from a mega-corporation. We've started the 2014 fundraising campaign - letters to local companies and past contributers - something I'm always anxious about. We've had talks with a local company to provide volunteer work groups for mid-April to mid-May -- our busiest and most labor intensive period. I've worked up a new planting plan - mostly crop rotation and a couple of new vegetable types. I'm working on a new irrigation plan.
We hope to add a layer to the raised beds - another 2x6" layer to the 2x8"s we put in last year. Also we need a new tent for the rest area -- the old one just had too much wear after 4 years, and we do need shade out there in the middle of summer. We'll also replace all of the irrigation control valves - they've had it too.
There will be a start-up meeting on Feb 9 at 1pm in the church basement -- a chance to review past seasons and talk about the new. Everyone is welcome.
